In order to replace the outer carriage of your motor, you must dismantle the rail with the chain. To carry out this replacement, the easiest way is to put yourself at height on trestles, you will thus avoid tiring work at arm's length at height.
1. Unhook the arm connecting the motor carriage to your garage door
2. Detach the motor head from its support on the ceiling
3. Do the same with the fixing of the rail on the lintel
4. Place the assembly on trestles to loosen the chain: at the end of the rail you will find the chain tensioner with a nut and the compression spring.
5. Once the chain is slack, remove the motor head and then take out the carriage (whose internal part is just connected to the chain by two quick releases )
6. Reverse these steps to refit the motor.
